We are NW Elementary

Northwest Elementary School serves approximately 800 students in grades 3-5.  The school has 10 third, 10 fourth, and 9 fifth grade self-contained classrooms. In addition, the school offers five resource teachers, a Tier 2 ISD room, a Title I program, a media center and a full-sized gymnasium. Students also receive daily specials classes with Art, Music, STEM, Physical Education and Health/Wellness. A professional staff of 44 teachers and a large support staff combine to offer a well-rounded program at our upper elementary level. All teachers are highly qualified according to federal standards.

Welcome to NWEL

Northwest Upper Elementary School is a 3rd-5th grade building with approximately 800 students. Creating a positive school culture is a priority in our district and we are very proud of the culture that we have created in our building. We seek to accomplish this through a framework called PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). Within this framework our focus is on being  Responsible, Respectful, Safe and Showing Effort. These four guiding qualities are foundations for all learners to engage both socially and academically.

Responsible:  Engage in the NW curriculum every day, doing your very best.

Respectful:  Be patient with those around you in the learning environment.

Safe:  Follow the directions of the adults to maximize the learning experience.

Show Effort:  Determine in your mind and practice in your actions, doing your very best.

We are fortunate to offer a variety of academic activities and supports. We offer Music, Art, STEM, Physical Education, Health/Wellness and Library Time to our students on a rotating basis.  In addition to our regular classes we have utilized our STEM lab for a Robotics Team.  Our students compete in local Robotics competitions.

Our counseling staff works with classrooms to help ensure a focus on Social Emotional Learning.  We also have multiple instructional aides and paraprofessionals that offer support to students and staff throughout all grade levels.

Thank you again for your interest in our building and possible openings.  We look forward to celebrating greatness throughout the school year! GO MOUNTIES!

Sincerely,

Aaron Bush, Principal
